Q: How to find accommodation?
There are 2 alternatives, on and off campus.
1. On campus: Foreign Students Dormitory.
One-bedroom
flat with small bathroom (shower provided) Also there is a little individual
kitchen, where you can cook your own meals. The university provides
basic furniture, like washing machine, refrigerator, gas stove,
television set, etc. The cost is 900 - 1200 RMB per month, but this
includes heating, management and water! On campus there is a small
supermarket,
selling food and everyday items. The vegetables and fruit market is
about 10
minutes walking from campus. Students can also dine in the school
cafeteria or in local style noodle shops just opposite the university, which are
very reasonably priced.
2. Off campus: There are several apartment complexes which vary in size and prices. To give you an general idea:
A two-bedroom apartment (about 90m2) costs around 500-700 RMB/month, if you
put the floor in by yourself, but some have the flooring already in.
Plus management fees, water and electricity (about another 100-300 RMB
per month). Heating is on for 6 months per year and can cost you about
500 RMB every month.
This price is for apartments without furniture. If the same apartment is rented furnished, it could cost you 800-1000 RMB.
